Term 4 has begun and P4 have been very busy this week already. We visited the Carron river to observe and listen to the water and discussed what we thought water symoblised. We also did an experiment to find out how water resistant different materials were. This is a very busy term with P4 hosting the Community Cafe on the 15th of May, a water topic, health week and some work still to do on the allotment.

Today some of the class and parents went to weed the allotment. If we found a bug we had to pick it up and name it and put it back in the ground. We had to use gardening tools to dig up weeds and roots and we put them in medium sized orange buckets and then put them in a big orange wheel barrow. It is important to weed as best as we can so that they don’t grow back. We had fun!

We were planting potatoes in the playground today. We had to follow instructions in our Superspud books and we weighed them before we planted them. Please look at the picture below to see how we got on.

We had such a busy week last week with World Book Day and World Maths Day we didn’t make it to our allotment. We did get the calculators out though and worked out how much all of our gardening equipment cost us. It was hard work as there was so much stuff to total up. We hope to be going to the allotment next week though and are also going to be planting tatties in our classroom

P4 have had a very busy week again this week. We went on our first visit to the allotment and did some measuring and we wrote letters to parents asking for help. We had a great response and have already had a parent in with a digger!
We also thought up lots of great names for our company that is in charge of getting the allotment going and we voted on the name ‘Power Plant’.

Dunnottar Primary are starting up a school allotment and P4 are in charge of getting it up and growing! We took delivery of lots of tools for the allotment and made a list of all the things that came in. Next week, in maths, we will be working out how much it all cost.
The school are looking for any green fingered parents to help out so please get in touch with the school if you can help.

As part of our Scotland project we made 3D maps of Scotland from watered down glue and newspaper. We made the main mountain ranges in Scotland and also marked on some of Scotland’s rivers. Please tell us what you think!
